Tuffley was designed in the mid-19th century and was originally created for clothing textiles, reflecting the growing fascination with natural motifs during the era. This design, codenamed 'seaweed' in the design studio captures the essence of organic forms and nature-inspired beauty.
Took a chance on the size and it fits our reading corner perfectly, the 45cm width gives off a warm, even glow. The gathered cotton has a lovely texture up close, and that green-blue seaweed pattern feels like it stepped straight out of a Victorian conservatory.
The pattern catches the light beautifully—those gathered folds in the green blue actually shimmer like real seaweed under water. It’s bigger in person than I pictured, and the 45cm width fills the corner of my living room perfectly, giving off a soft, warm glow that makes the whole space feel calmer
The shade arrived beautifully packaged and the cotton fabric has a subtle, woven texture you can actually see up close—it casts a soft, warm glow at night that transforms the whole room. The 45cm size is perfect over our dining table, and the gathered pleats feel substantial, not flimsy.
